22 ways how dotMailer beats Swiftpage for email marketing
Based on my experiences of using Swiftpage and dotMailer with ACT! and Microsoft Dynamics CRM here are 22 examples of how dotMailer offers better tools and more flexibility for carrying out email campaigns.
1. Easy Editor - design templates with simple drag and drop functionality to position columns, tables and spacing without needing any HTML skills. I covered the dotMailer editor in a recent post to demonstrate how quickly new templates can be created.
2. Dynamic content - personalise email content based on recipients interests and their preferences using data stored in CRM. For example, if a customer purchases a specific product use your next email campaign to recommend similar services or promote a targeted special offer to increase relevance and maximise cross sell opportunities.
3. Resize images - drop large images into your template and they'll automatically resize to fit the available space so there's no need to edit files in a separate application like Photoshop.
4. Creates a Plain Text File - dotMailer replicates HTML content by creating a plain text format to make a multipart delivery so recipients can receive messages based on their preferences to boost delivery rates.
5. View in a web browser link - Swiftpage places this link at the foot of each message but dotMailer enables it to be positioned more prominently so the link is clearly visible to recipients who want to open the message in a browser window.
6. CRM event based triggers - dotMailer can automatically trigger marketing emails based on individual customer events. For example, by reading CRM field data changes if a contact orders a specific product an automated email can be sent by dotMailer to promote a similar item. In comparison, Swiftpage drip marketing only uses email campaign open and click data to trigger automated emails.
7. Split testing - evaluate email subject lines, sender names, calls to action and other creative content by running multiple split tests using an sample of contacts before transmitting the remaining messages using the most successful formula based on email open or click results.
8. UK phone support & account manager - dotMailer includes unlimited usage phone support and a dedicated UK account manager with its Professional and Enterprise packages. Swiftpage only offers US based email support with its subscriptions.
9. Sends emails using a UK IP Address - Swiftpage uses US IP Addresses whereas all dotMailer campaigns are transmitted using UK IP Addresses. UK addresses are typically less associated with spam content so typically achieve better delivery rates compared to US addresses.
10. Works with Google Analytics - dotMailer automatically configures email links to work Google Analytics so the true campaign returns can be measured to include click data.
11. Branded email landing pages - enter a URL of your web page and dotMailer will replicate the layout including javascript so you can edit content to create email landing pages or a micro-site.
12. Includes social media links - add links so recipients can easily share your message with their social networks.
13. Includes document manager - stores PDFs and other files on the dotMailer server and links to these resources without requiring these files to be uploaded to your website.
14. Compares campaign results - select multiple sent campaigns to compare metrics on a single screen including email open %, clicks, page views, hard bounces and unsubscribe requests.
15. Top email clients - see a list of which email clients people have used to open your message and use this information to streamline the testing of future templates.
16. Advanced email surveys - create surveys that replicate your web branding using dotMailer survey templates for event registrations, client satisfaction surveys, contact forms, prize draws, market research and more to gather feedback and collect data.
17. Data watchdog checker - dotMailer uses its own unique set of algorithms, checks and analysis tools. Every row of email data is checked before campaigns are transmitted to prevent messages being sent to email addresses that may cause complaints or quarantine any high risk files to optimise deliverability.
18. Geomap results - view audience email actions on a map to see where activity is concentrated and use this display to ringfence hotspots and create new regionally targeted lists.
19. No external branding - Swiftpage includes a 'Powered by Swiftpage' link at the foot of every message whereas dotMailer sends messages without any external content so each template fully reflects your branding (excludes the free dotMailer package).
20. Hotspot link report - see exactly where links were clicked in your email to identify which buttons, banners and calls to action worked best and use this intelligence to repeat successes in future communications.
21. Campaign feed - dotMailer creates a feed of recently sent e-marketing messages so this list can be added to your web-site or an intranet to increase distribution and quickly access previous messages.
22. Customisable email responder - configure automatic processes that send emails when people respond to your e-marketing messages.
